Watermelon health benefits

Watermelons are a tasty and enjoyable fruit to eat, especially on those hot summer days. In addition to the enjoyment, there are many watermelon health benefits. The fruit is a thirst quencher, which is great on hot days when there is a risk of dehydration (of course water is still a must though). The red fruit also has a good concentration of vitamin C as well as some vitamin A, B6, B1, potassium, and magnesium. Watermelons also have a pretty low calorie count which is great for those who are watching their weight. Watermelons are also rich in antioxidants and lycopene. Lycopene in watermelons is especially beneficial for males as it has been linked to reducing the risk of prostate cancer. The health benefits of watermelon coupled with the great taste, low calories, and relative low cost make the fruit a great healthy food choice.
